Great news!! Rooney’s movie “Dare” has been acquired for North American distribution by Image Entertainment, and will be released on November 13, 2009.

Image Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Sundance 2009 competition pic “Dare.”

High school-set drama stars Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, Ashley Springer, Ana Gasteyer, Rooney Mara, Sandra Bernhard and Alan Cumming.

Helmed by Adam Salky and written by David Brind, “Dare” was produced by Mary Jane Skalski (“The Station Agent”) and Jason Orans.

While Image is mainly a homevid specialist, it has moved into the theatrical space this year. Among its recent pickups is Jennifer Aniston starrer “Management” and Richard Eyre’s “The Other Man,” with Liam Neeson.

“Dare” will start its limited release Nov. 13 in theaters.
