Thanks to William for the head’s up that Rooney’s new movie “The Winning Season” will be released on DVD on November 23, 2010 and is up for pre-order now on Amazon!

From director James C. Strouse (Grace is Gone) comes THE WINNING SEASON starring Sam Rockwell as an adult misfit who is brought on to coach the local girl’s high school basketball team. THE WINNING SEASON co-stars Emma Roberts, and also stars Rooney Mara, Rob Corddry, Shareeka Epps, Emily Rios and Margo Martindale.

No special features news yet, but we will keep you updated! And of course DVD captures will be coming your way as soon as I get my hands on a copy.

Dragon Tattoo Girl Hooks Up With Pervy Shoe Salesman

Before you see Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or even The Social Network, there’s the upcoming The Winning Season.

While she may not be the star of the indie flick, Mara definitely has quite the storyline…

The Winning Season, which hits theaters Sept. 3, stars Emma Roberts as the captain of a girls high school basketball team coached by the Midwest town’s former sports hero (Sam Rockwell).

Mara plays one of Roberts’ teammates, who happens to be having an affair with a pervy shoe salesman in his 40s, played by Winter’s Bone actor Kevin Breznahan.

Lolita by way of Hoop Dreams, anyone?
